Lake Forest, CA — Nov 16, 2011 — Nexcopy Inc., a leading manufacturer in USB Duplicator solutions, announces DoD erase functions for USB, SD and microSD media along with full support for USB 3.0 flash drives.

Department Of Defense (DoD) Erase function

DoD erase is three cycle write process of 0’s – 1’s – 0’s.

Erase function supports USB, SD and microSD media

Standalone USB duplicators fully support USB 3.0 flash drives

Updated firmware for the Nexcopy standalone USB duplicator systems supports a variety of erase functions. The Full Erase function writes a cycle of zero’s to all sectors of a flash memory device and clears out any partition tables. In addition, the Nexcopy firmware supports Department of Defense (DoD) Erase functions which meets government security standards. The DoD Erase function employs a three cycle write pattern where a first pass of Zero’s are written to the entire device, a second pass of One’s are written to the entire device and finally a third pass of Zero’s are written to all areas of the flash device. Through this redundancy write cycle process there is no chance to recover residual files on a flash memory device.

“Nexcopy is very excited about our DoD erase firmware update to standalone USB duplicator systems.” reports Greg Morris, President of Nexcopy. “We have seen increased demand for erase functions for flash memory, including business sectors from the banking industry and telecommunications industry. Our goal of continued product development and improvement has paid off, and Nexcopy can now supply a durable solution for these needs.”

Nexcopy’s firmware update includes additional driver support for new USB 3.0 flash drives. The new release insures nearly all USB 3.0 flash drives will work flawlessly on the Nexcopy standalone USB duplicator systems. With full support of 3.0 devices means the user will see higher speed data transfer rates during Copy and Verification procedures.

The new standalone USB duplicator firmware is available for download for current owners at no charge. New systems purchase will, of course, include this new version of firmware and includes support for models USB115SA and USB131SA Nexcopy systems. For applications which require SD or microSD support, Nexcopy will include certified adapters with any purchase of a 15 or 31 target USB duplicator system.

Nexcopy standalone USB Duplicator systems are compact in size, take very little desk real-estate and moderately priced for today’s budget conscience corporate buyer (starting at $1,799). Learn more about these USB Duplicator systems: http://www.nexcopy.com/usb-duplicator-standalone/

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA — Sep 10, 2010 — Nexcopy Inc., a leading manufacturer in USB Duplicator equipment, announces the release of two new standalone USB duplicator solutions for bulk data loading to USB flash memory.

The new standalone USB duplicators from Nexcopy provide ultra fast data copying of content to flash media. Depending on the device, the standalone duplicators can reach a maximum of 2GBs per minute data transfer. These numbers yield a transfer speed faster than current USB 3.0 technologies for data loading to USB 2.0 flash drives.

“Our PC based systems have been our flagship product for many years, but for those who need ultra fast copy speeds with simple operation, the new standalone systems are the ideal product,” says Greg Morris, President of Nexcopy. “Our standalone systems are highly optimized with dedicated OS-less boards which control the copy process – the new systems from Nexcopy are not embedded computers, but rather dedicated boards to perform a primary function – to copy.”

The new standalone models include 16 and 32 socket systems – the USB115SA and USB131SA respectively. The USB115SA is a 16 socket system with one master and 15 targets. The USB131SA is a 32 socket system with one master and 31 targets. The USB duplicators are ergonomically designed with a contemporary look and finish. The cases are made of anodized aluminum making the USB duplicators light weight and portable – ideal for in-field applications such as trade shows, conferences and live events.

The standalone systems are simple to operate and include power utilities and features. Each model has the configuration option for asynchronous duplication for independent data loading to each device. The user may configure the system to format the device, erase data or toggle a 32‐bit CRC data error checking utility. In addition, there is a flash memory bad-block checking utility and a speed benchmark test utility. A backlit 2 x 20 character LCD display provides user navigation and performance feedback.

The standalone USB Duplicators are compact in size, take very little desk real-estate and priced right for today’s economic climate and tight corporate budgets [starting at $1,799]. Learn more about these USB Duplicator systems: http://www.nexcopy.com/usb-duplicator-standalone/

Sugar Labs Nonprofit Announces v2 of Sugar on a Stick with Improved E-Book Readers, Recycles Any USB Stick Into Learning Environment for Children; Partners with Nexcopy, Inc.

PARIS, December 8, 2009 — Netbook World Summit — Sugar Labs(R), volunteer-driven nonprofit provider of the Sugar Learning Platform for over one-million children around the world, announces the release of Sugar on a Stick v2 Blueberry. Available for download at http://www.sugarlabs.org, Sugar on a Stick can be loaded onto any ordinary 1Gb or greater flash drive to reboot any PC, netbook or recent Mac directly into the child-friendly Sugar environment without touching the existing installation. Sugar is also available for GNU/Linux distributions, runs under virtualization on Windows and Apple OS X, and features built-in classroom collaboration and automatic backup to a Journal. The latest version of Sugar offers simpler navigation, improved wireless networking, streamlined updating of Activities for children, easier keyboard configuration, better Gnash support for Adobe Flash content, and more. New Activities such as Physics and OOo4Kids join updated favorites such as Browse and Read, suitable for reading e-books.

“Sugar on a Stick is a great way to experience Sugar”, commented Walter Bender, Sugar Labs executive director. “In this holiday season, we wish to remind parents and teachers that e-books are not only for costly reader units for the well-to-do, but freely available as part of the open-access to knowledge movement to help children everywhere develop critical learning skills and to bridge the digital divide wherever it exists.”

Sugar on a Stick includes several e-book reader Activities to find and display e-books in PDF, EPUB, and DejaVu formats. The Read Etexts Activity can read e-books out loud, converting any old PC or inexpensive netbook into a text-to-speech aid for disabled readers. With Sugar, children can even make their own e-books. Thousands of e-books for children are available on websites such as Project Gutenberg, the Internet Archive Children’s Library, epubBooks.com, Feedbooks.com, and ManyBooks.net. Other sites offer online reading, such as the International Children’s Digital Library.

Pilot Sugar projects are underway in American and European schools. School administrators wishing to deploy Sugar will be interested in OLPC’s recently updated XS school server software, which provides “safety net” and connectivity services at the school level: backup, content distribution, filtered access to the Internet, and Moodle integration. To assist schools interested in testing this technology, Sugar Labs has partnered with Nexcopy, Inc. of Rancho Santa Margarita, California, an industry leader in USB duplicator solutions, to open http://recycleusb.com. Nexcopy will collect used USB sticks, reload them with Sugar on a Stick, and forward them to Sugar Labs for distribution to schools. Nexcopy has also donated a 20-stick USB duplication unit to Sugar Labs.

Greg Morris, President of Nexcopy, commented, “Nexcopy is proud to partner with a nonprofit organization such as Sugar Labs. We believe the Sugar Learning Platform is clearly a step in the right direction for getting children involved with personal computers. Our objective is to give Sugar Labs the back-end equipment support needed to make this philanthropy successful and help with producing the large number of Sugar Sticks needed for global deployment. I am very honored Nexcopy is a part of this process.”

Ladera Ranch, CA — August 14, 2008 – Nexcopy Inc., a leading manufacturer in USB Duplicator equipment, announced the release of it’s SD200PC, a 20 target SD duplicator system to aid users in bulk data loading to Secure Digital media formats.

The SD200PC is designed for quick and easy data loading to Secure Digital media such as SD cards, miniSD cards and microSD cards. The SD Duplicator is a 20 target system with powerful copy and duplication functions. Users may copy files from a source location on a PC or use the low-level binary copy function to copy a full image from a Secure Digital media source.

“Secure Digital media formats are the leading flash memory type for deployment of field applications to hand-held devices, mobile phones, GPS units and telecommunication devices,” says Greg Morris, President of Nexcopy. “Developing an SD duplicator with powerful copy utilities along with ease-of-use was a request our sales channel had been asking for months. They asked and we delivered.”

The SD200PC is well suited for data loading to flash memory for Palm devices and SmartPhones as the system will also function as a miniSD duplicator through the use of media adapters. The SD duplicator is equally suited for data loading to Blackberry devices, GPS units and mobile phones as the SD200PC will also function as a microSD duplicator through the use of microSD media adapters.

Morris continues, “We paid specific attention to the low-level binary copy function to insure the SD duplicator will duplicate Linux distribution packages for embedded applications and software deployment via Secure Digital media. The unit is a PC based system, and it was important we had some level of support for Linux users. The bit-for-bit copy function provides that support.”
